Happy February
"The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away. [...] So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom." - Psalm 90:10-12
Superbowl 50, Chinese New Year and Valentines's Day.
So much for the "shoulder season" where we can recover from Christmas/New Year until Easter rolls around! Don't get me wrong, I love an excuse to celebrate. It's just that with parties come food, and my every expanding waistline can't handle it :P
I'm told that time speeds up as we age, and it feels like life is going 100 miles an hour right now. I can't believe how fast Lacianna is growing, she used to just sleep and eat but now she is almost getting ready to crawl!
Anyway, despite the controversy, I did especially enjoy this part of the big game.
IS YOUR MONEY BEING HELD HOSTAGE
I am outraged and disgusted at how some banks trap you into investing with them. I was assisting an investor redeploy some of their assets out of low interest-bearing accounts into a better investment.
How would you react to being charged $3,513.85 in penalties to get your $80,000 back? The bank is taking a 4.39% fee for early withdrawal out of a 0.66% term deposit. The banks pays out $528 of interest next year. In the meantime, this investor will lose out on an opportunity to create a 15% return.
Beware of locking in your money for supposedly higher interest rates. There are 1.35% and 2.4% savings accounts available right now that beat the term deposits without being locked in. Shop around and be an aware consumer. Otherwise, you are defaulting to the path of least resistance and you'll find yourself at the mercy of the banks.
Here is a list of 10 banks with the highest interest rates that you've probably never heard of.

There are many "hands off" ways to invest in real estate. Partner with an expert, buy REITs, lend againt them(even with registered accounts)!
If you prefer a "hands on approach" and want to go it alone, see some properties I would consider doing more dilligence on. Please note: all may be great deals, or none may be. You must do your own research!
