BACK FLOW PREVENTERS

A Back Flow Preventer is a device that stops the reverse flow of water into the city potable water supply and thus prevents potential contamination of the public water supply.

This is an HCVB back flow valve in the laundry room wash basin, in the unlikely event that someone were to put a hose on this faucet, the water cannot flow back up.

This is the reason why all cities enforce annual back flow maintenance, or should.

If there is a back flow prevention failure, an entire city's water supply could become contaminated as it did in Corpus Christi, Texas in December 2016.

Or prevented this 2015 water scare in Galveston, Texas.
