TO FLOAT OR NOT TO FLOAT

I've been curious about those sensory deprivation float tanks so I finally decided to purchase a 2-for-1 Groupon.

The receptionist explained that all amenities are onsite, the shower is located inside the private room with shampoo, conditioner, body soap and towel.

Steve fell asleep in his tank but I lasted 30-minutes. I discovered that I like being submerged in water, not floating on top of it.

This tank had 800 lbs of epsom salt in 1,000 litres of water. Apparently, they change out the water once a year and dose each tank with chlorine after each use. The Fraser Health Authority checks these tanks regularly but it didn't sound very appealing.

Steve got a drop in his mouth by accident and it's very nasty. And they have a water spray and towel if you get any of it in your eyes because it really stings if you do. Yep, got a drop in my eye when I was trying to position the halo underneath my head.

There are coloured lights that you can turn on or off. Steve went with meditation music but could not find the volume control. It was so loud that I could hear the music vibrations from the next tank over, through the ear plugs.

SensaFloat may be great for relaxation but my preference is a freshly drawn bubble bath. Well you never know until you experiment.
