PARHELION OPTICAL PHENOMENON AKA SUN DOG
Thanks go to Wendy Wells-Miller for educating me on the proper definition of this atmospheric event.
Parhelion is a term used in meteorology that describes a bright spot to one or both sides of the sun.
The sun dog is a member of the family of halos caused by the refraction of sunlight by ice crystals in the atmosphere.
This was taken at Mud Bay Park in Surrey around 5:00 p.m.
