Have you ever considered that octopus are extremely playful? 

An octopus is both a mollusc and a cephalopod, have 3 hearts, a central brain, and mini brains at the base of each of their 8 tentacles for a total of 9 brains.

They love solving puzzles.

Personally, I would not keep an octopus as a pet - my mother would eat it; they belong in the ocean.
