Scotiabank offered a simple solution to outsmart scammers as they can be very convincing when they impersonate family members.

A simple way to prevent this type of scam is to set up a family secret code word or phrase.

If or when you receive a suspicious call, email, or text message, ask for the secret password.

Because only family members would know it.
