1ST MILESTONE ACHIEVED: WILLOUGHBY WALK APPROVED - 191 UNITS

YooHoo! The first milestone has been achieved.

The long anticipated 1st & 2nd Reading for the Development Permit Application for Willoughby Walk, a six-storey wood-frame 191-unit rental apartment, was passed with a strong majority vote: 7 in favour and 2 opposed.

As for the debate regarding the small parking stalls, we had already re-designed the parkade a week earlier.

An emergency generator room in the parkade was eliminated to make room for more parking space.

The generator room was deemed excessive for the size of the building. In the event of a power outage, the load would not be significant considering LED lights use much less power than incandescent bulbs.

The room has been replaced by a PMT (pad-mounted transformer), that little green box on the side of a building.

Now it's on to the Public Hearing scheduled for May 9th followed by 3rd Reading on May 30th.
