Nerding Out At NASA

Welcome to the November edition of my newsletter!

I hope you all had an exciting Halloween! Our family is still at the stage where Halloween was way more fun for Shawna and I, than it was for Moses and Floyd. However, despite the fact that we dragged these poor astronauts into their carseats a dozen times over 90 minutes and stole most of their candy, they were both pretty good sports about it.

Your Handy Dandy Seasonal Maintenance Calendar

Seasonal Maintenance Calendar

Just as you winterize your vehicle, you should also winterize your home. On top of that you should also 'springize', 'summerize', and 'autumnize' your home! If you want to know when you should be doing what, take a look a the attached pdf calendar, for also sorts of helpful hints!

Five Fun Facts About Pez

There's no mistaking the tilted heads that dispense pastel colored candy stacked in a narrow column. But did you know any of these fun facts about one of North America's favourite sugar pellets:

1) The name Pez, is derived from the German word for peppermint, which is pfefferminze. Pull out a bunch of f's, and you have Pez!!

2) Pez were actually created in Austria in 1927, to help people quit smoking. That is why the dispenser so closely resembles a lighter. This seemed to work in Austria, but when Pez moved to America, they had no such luck. So there were new flavours and a bit of repackaging involved - then - VOILA - children around the country were demanding their Pez!

3) Since it's creation in 1955, the highest selling Pez dispenser is Santa Claus. The most expensive Pez dispenser ever sold was of a 1961 political donkey. It sold for $13,000, and only two were ever made

4) Twelve million Pez tablets are produced every day from the world's only Pez factory in Orange, CT. The factory uses 50,000lbs of sugar every four days!!! Holy sweet tooth!

5) Peach Pez have never been available in North America, however at one point you were able to jam your dispenser full of licorice, coffee, or chlorophyll tasting Pez!!

Win Some Green To Spend At Brown's

Although, we don't have the opportunity to eat out as much as we used to, whenever we do - Brown's Social House is always near the top of the list. Amazing food and an awesome atmosphere - what's not to love, right?

Anyways, I want to share that love - with YOU - some of the most incredible clients, friends, and referral partners that a guy could ask for. This month I am giving away 3 X $50 gift cards for Brown's Social House, and all you have to do is to respond to this email, telling me you would like to be entered... simple huh?

I will make the draw on November 9th, and mail out the gift cards to you at that time. Winners will also be mentioned in the December newsletter.

Good luck!

Is It Time To Refinance?

Do you have exisitng debt outside your mortgage (credit cards, car loans, lines of credit) which you are paying a much higher interest rate on? Do you wish you had additional money to give your financial advisor? Are there home renovations which you are hoping to undertake in the near future, but worried you do not have the cash flow to cover them?

If you answered yes, to any of the above and you have substantial equity in your home, it might be worth having a conversation to see if the time is right to refinance? As you know, interest rates are at historical lows right now, so why not pay off your 18% credit card, and build that debt into your mortgage?

Now the kicker is, that there are usually fees involved in breaking your current mortgage, however, often times, even in light of these fees, you will still come out ahead. How do we know for sure? Give me a call, and we can run through everything with you.
