CLAIM ALL YOUR BUSINESS DEDUCTIONS ON THE T2125

If you are self-employed, also known as a proprietorship, then you are eligible to claim deductions against the income you made during the year.

If you work from home, you are able to pro-rate these expenses.

These deductions include expenses such as a portion of your rent or mortgage, insurance, bank fees, accounting, legal, utilities, office supplies, travel, automobile, parking meter fare, subscriptions, cost of goods, etc.

This 6:55 minute video from Intuit explains how to fill out the T2125 form.

A lot of self-employed people are not aware of all the legitimate expenses that Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) allows you to deduct as the cost of doing business.

CRA did put a cap on Meals & Entertainment because it was so heavily abused. You can only claim 50% of the bill and you must be able to provide proof of the person you had dinner with.

T2125 Statement of Business Activities, PDF fillable form

Did you know that you can claim your mileage if you keep a mileage log of your business activities?

If your business activities require you to travel using your personal vehicle, you are allowed to pro-rate your automobile costs such as insurance, fuel, maintenance and repair.

The 2018 Automobile Allowance Rates are 55 cents per kilometre for the 1st 5000 km driven, then 49 cents per km after that.

BRAIN GYM

Brain Gym was discovered by Paul Dennison, a pioneer in the field of kinesiology in the 1960's.

He discovered simple cross-over techniques that stimulated brain development.

The cross-crawl is one of the most popular brain gym techniques, and it actually prevents and rehabilitates health problems.

This is a 5:54 minute video showing the brain gym techniques.

The FIGURE 8 technique is a great way to integrate both hemispheres of the brain before tackling a mental project:  clasp your hands together in front of you, hold it up at eye level, then let your eyes follow your thumbs as you air-draw a horizontal figure-8.

Do this for about 30-seconds and experience a lift in mental clarity and focus. Cheers!

LOVE & LOSS; JOY & GRIEF

Life is short. Live each day as if it may be your last. Say I LOVE YOU more often. Give hugs. Lots of hugs.

You don't realize how short life is until someone passes away. And then it's too late to say goodbye, to say how much you appreciate them, how much you love them.

I say goodbye to Carl McKenzie, a fellow mastermind member, colleague and friend.

It is with shock and surprise that he passed suddenly from a heart attack at such a young age.

He leaves behind a wife and three children.

These losses are devastating when they happen to people we are close to.

Death happens every day. Life goes on. What remains is their memory and their legacy.

We don't know when our time is up. If it's not today, then it is definitely one day tomorrow.

We grieve your passing, Carl, and trust that you are in a better place. Thank you for your words of wisdom and encouragement, your support and camaraderie. You left us too soon and you shall be missed. Fare thee well, mon ami.

Death Be Not Proud, poem by John Donne

LIFE IS A TEST ... EMBRACE IT

Ever wonder why there is pain and suffering? I certainly did, for many years.

Then one day while reflecting on why some people crumble over the smallest crisis like a fender-bender and other people can face disaster with quiet fortitude, I realized that it came down to how much struggle that person has chosen to face in their life.

Struggle is the where the crucible of your character is formed.

Everyone faces pain and suffering at some point in their life.

It is how you choose to respond to it that defines who you are.

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, Courage to change the things I can, Wisdom to know the difference. "Reinhold Niebuhr"

Bad things do happen; how I respond to them defines my character and the quality of my life. I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I have - life itself. "Walter Anderson"
