Do banks prioritize the needs of their customers?

Banks are in the business of staying profitable. And while there’s nothing wrong with that, the way they sell financial products and manage employee performance can lead to sales cultures that are misaligned with consumer interests, according to a new report from the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada (FCAC).

The agency sifted through 4,500 complaints related to sales practices involving Canada’s six largest banks—Bank of Montreal, Bank of Nova Scotia, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, National Bank of Canada, Royal Bank of Canada, and Toronto-Dominion Bank.

The FCAC also reviewed 100,000 pages of documents (including those about how banks handle training, performance, and self-policing), and interviewed more than 600 bank employees.

Easter + Realtors Care Food Drive

It was a great long weekend, catching up with family and while we were at it, we got to helping prepare for the realtors care food drive. Each year realtors throughout Woodstock and Ingersoll gather together to make this great food drive happen. All donations benefit the Salvation Army food banks. Bags will be dropped off the week before May 2nd, and gathered ON May 2nd between 6 and 8pm. If you're looking to get involved, they are still looking for some staplers from now until Friday. I have included the link below for the facebook event page in order to get in contact.

2017 a year of "significant progress" for BOC, says Poloz

Bank of Canada Governor Stephen Poloz said the economy will need less monetary stimulus overtime, should it continue to operate “close to potential” and inflation is near target.

But bank will remain cautious in adjusting its interest rate, since a number of “uncertainties” remain, Poloz said the bank’s 2017 Annual Report released on Monday. While much of the downward pressure on inflation in Canada was the result of slack in the economy, other factors could be at play, such as developments in the digital economy, or heightened international competition. The Bank needs to understand these undercurrents to achieve its inflation target,” he added.

The central bank hiked raise twice in 2017, reversing cuts set in 2015 to help the economy adjust to the large drop in oil prices back then.

12 Epic High-End IKEA Hacks That Totally Had Us Fooled

Look, I know IKEA. And usually, I can spot one of their products from a mile away. But every once in a while I'll see a hack that's so clever, so transformative, that even this superfan is fooled. Here are a dozen jaw-dropping hacks you won't believe are IKEA.

When I first saw this on Pinterest, with the words 'IKEA hack' next to it, I just stopped scrolling, befuddled. There is no way that's an IKEA hack, I thought. But I was wrong. This is, in fact, a LACK table covered in mirrored plexiglass panels. Doesn't this side table look like something from The Future Perfect? This may be the best IKEA hack I've seen yet, and trust me, I've seen a lot. You can see the full DIY at Ich Designer. (Also lead image above.)
