Fixed Rates Have Dropped - Is Now The Time To Refinance?

Fixed mortgage rates have dropped significantly over the last 6 months.

This could mean that refinancing might make sense for you. Especially for those of you on a variable rate mortgage!

If you've been wanting to do some home renovations, get rid of high interest credit card debt, or take care of other expenses like post-secondary education for the kids, it might be the right time for a refinance.

With rates as low as they are, we are finding that in many cases the interest savings that come with the new lower rate MORE than offset any penalties you would incur to break the mortgage. Are you in a variable rate mortgage? There could be BIG saving's to take advantage of.

Contact me today and I can run the numbers for you and we can determine if a refinance in today's low rate environment is the right move for you.

Summer Cottage Fun!

We were fortunate enough to spend a good amount of time at our cottage over the past couple months and made some great memories. From our first (COLD) lake plunge on June 1 to kayaking and boating the lake once the warmer weather hit. I must say that I enjoyed the view from my cottage office a little more than my regular office!

The Bank of Canada Qualifying Rate Decreases (5.34% ---> 5.19%)

The Bank of Canada qualifying rate (benchmark rate) will be decreasing on Monday July 22, 2019 from 5.34% to 5.19%.

Are you curious what this means for you? How does it affect your borrowing power?

Give me a call if you'd like more information or to chat about the impacts this will have on you.

More Free Coffee!

Interest rates are REALLY low right now. As Mortgage Brokers, we refer to rates in 'basis points'. Example, 1.0% is 100 basis points. Let's pretend your current mortgage rate is 3.39%. However, you are thinking about refinancing to take advantage of today's low rates. Your trusted Mortgage Broker advises you that there is an amazing rate special out right now where you can get 2.89% on a refinance (with all fees covered by the new lender)!

Question: How many basis points would you be saving in the above scenario on your interest rate?

As usual, the first person to text or email me the correct answer wins a $15 Starbucks gift card!!!
