Home Owner Tax Grant for 2021
Starting in 2021, residents in municipalities no longer apply for the home owner grant through their municipal office. Everyone now applies directly to the province using a new online system that’s easy to use and will process applications faster.
There are 3 ways you can apply:
1. Online with this link ONLINE
2. By phone 1-888-355-2700
3. At a Service BC Location
You can apply as soon as you receive your property tax bill, typically in late May or early June. The Ministry of Finance announced that the 2021 Home Owner Grant threshold is set at $1.625 million, saying it ensures the same percentage of British Columbia homeowners continue to be eligible.
BC RECOVERY BENEFIT
Did you know you have until June 30, 2021 to apply for the BC Recovery Benefit?
$1,000 for eligible families and $500 for eligible individuals.
You will need these 3 items:
1: Amount from Line 23600 from your 2019 Notice of Assessment
2: Driver's license or BC ID card
3: Banking information for direct deposit only (no cheques will be mailed)
The eligibility threshold is $62,000 per individual to receive the full $1,000.
The maximum is $175,000 per individual to receive a reduced amount.
If you made more than this amount, you do not qualify for the benefit.
