Property taxes are due for most municipalities by July 2, 2021. If you forget to pay them on time, you might void your homeowner grant and be subject to interest owing on the balance.

If you have not received your property tax bill, please contact your municipality and get the right information over the phone.

Also remember...homeowners grants are now applied for at gov.bc.ca/homeownergrant or call 1-888-355-2700!

Introducing The Microgreenery at the Funny Farm!

Many of you who have been getting newsletters from me for a while now know that my family owns and operates the Funny Farm in Langley - The Microgreenery is the newest addition to the Funny Farm.

Our farm operates using the "side-by-side model of teaching"; well-trained and knowledgeable farmers with expertise in the growing of microgreens work with youth, their support workers and elders in the connecting, educating and planting, growing, harvesting, and sale of microgreens. These farmers include children and teens who may be struggling with life challenges, who may need some "connection" with the land and animals, who have been dealt a less than ideal hand in their very young life.

The youth enjoy getting their hands dirty, literally or otherwise; helping with growing the microgreens, planting seedlings, caring for animals, farm chores, and yard and garden maintenance. The Microgreenery is also home to adults and elders looking for a connection to the earth, our food source, and our community...all of which happens while planting, caring and harvesting microgreens.

All of the proceeds from The Microgreenery go back into the community through partnerships with The Langley School District, The Langley School District Foundation, Langley Meals on Wheels, Encompass Support Services and Jewish Family Services. We do what we do because we love to do it. We bring community together to create community. Each and every container of microgreens or microgreen subscription box sold fosters community access to nutritious meals, healthy programs for youth and families, and big nutrients and bigger taste for all!

You can find us at the Langley Community Farmers Market starting in mid July or through our website - themicrogreenery.ca (being launched July 10th)!

What is Bridge Financing?

Let’s say you have a home that you’ve outgrown, it’s time to make a move to something more suited for your family. So you list your current home and hope the dates of possession on your new home and the sale of your existing home match up!

But what if you need the money from the sale of your existing house to come up with the down payment for your next house? This is where bridge financing comes in. Bridge financing allows you to bridge the financial gap between the firm sale of your current home, and the purchase of your new home. Bridge financing allows you to access some of the equity in your existing property to be used towards the down payment on the property you are purchasing.

There are many options for financing a purchase while selling your current home. If you are thinking this may be in your future, reach out and let us help you find the best way for your situation!!
