B.C. announces tax on homes sold 2 years or less after purchase

 

Tax rate will be 20% for properties sold within a year of purchase, sliding to zero over following year.

Single Family Stats - Apr 2024

Sale Price increased 4.6% from $856k in February to $897k in March.
New Listings increased from 284 in February to 290 in March.
Total Inventory increased from 551 in February 584 in March.
Unit Sales increased from 107 in February to 129 in March.
Sales to Active Ratio also increased from 19% in February to 22% in March. (February/2022 we were sitting at 62%). 12%-20% is considered a balanced market. Under 12% is a buyers market.

Mortgage interest still driving inflation, as overall rate nudges up to 2.9%

 

Canada's inflation rate went up slightly in March compared to February, with Statistics Canada pointing out gasoline prices are partly behind the increase.
