EDUCATION MILESTONE
August 21st was the date of my last assignment submission at Trinity Western University.
This marks the end of 5 years of part-time study completing (1) BA Leadership degree, (2) Project Management Institute CAPM Certified Associate Project Manager, and (3) Certificate in Applied Psychology professional program.
Steve really wants me to take a break before I consider the logical next step into the Masters program.
PMI PDUS
Continuing education is never finished even after graduating because learning is a lifelong habit that requires cultivation.
The Project Management institute requires members to maintain PDUs (professional development units) through a variety of professional development programs so your knowledge remains agile and current, not stale-dated.
My current interest switched to the Construction Project Communications course because communication is the single most important skill in literally everything.
Poor communication skills results in 33% of all construction megaproject failures and 50% of construction projects experience serious impacts to lost time, cost, and scope.
A 2018 survey of 600 construction companies revealed that up to $177-billion per year of cost overruns was due to poor communication.
We know this is happening everywhere at all levels of business, government, in our schools, and in our homes.
The solution is to practice active listening by focusing on both the content and the cultural context for clarity and understanding.
