REPORT AN EARTHQUAKE

Did you know that you can report a seismic event in your area at Earthquakes Canada?

The March 3rd earthquake of 4.1 magnitude between Victoria and Vancouver was below the alert threshold, but my mother was jolted out of a sound sleep as our house shook.

Thanks to my friend Alison Jantzi for providing the link.

GOVERNMENT STOCKPILE

These are the top 10 food items that governments around the world stockpile for emergencies.

Are they in your pantry?

(1) Honey (2) Powdered eggs (3) Instant coffee (4) Canned fish (5) Dried lentils (6) Peanut butter (7) Oats (8) Canned vegetables (9) Salt (10) Ramen noodles

EMERGENCY GO-BAG

It is prudent to be prepared for an emergency situation just in case.

Make a grab-and-go-bag for your car, at work, and at home.

This 12-minute video shows items to include in a go-bag

UPDATING HEADSHOTS

It was time to update our headshots and bringing Steve along is always an adventure.

We are grateful to Irina Stelmakh for her congeniality and patience.

SQUIRRELYMPICS

This 20-minute video showcases an 8-part ninja warrior obstacle course for squirrels to get to the grand prize: a stash of walnuts.

Which ultimately leads up to the Squirrel-lympics . . . which team will win: Hubcap Hills or Walnut Estates?

OCTOPUS A-MAZE-MENT

Have you ever considered that octopus are extremely playful

An octopus is both a mollusc and a cephalopod, have 3 hearts, a central brain, and mini brains at the base of each of their 8 tentacles for a total of 9 brains.

They love solving puzzles.

This 17-minute video is one of the more elaborate underwater challenges.

Personally, I would not keep an octopus as a pet - my mother would eat it; they belong in the ocean.
