DAVID AND DAVID PODCAST 176

David Gorski and David Kormans are brokers who started their own podcast to support the financial literacy and wellbeing of their real estate agents.

I had the pleasure of being a featured guest on their podcast David & David On Real Estate.

We spent over 80-minutes sharing my investor experience with real estate agents - David & David split the conversation into 3 episodes.

The key difference working with investors is repeat business.

We are not homeowners with emotional attachments, so we tend to look at lots of properties to shortlist the top picks.

The ideal investor-agent knows and understands the investor's criteria because it's a business decision, not a lifestyle decision.

YVR SUNFLOWER PROGRAM

In preparation for our upcoming trip to Portugal with my 89-year old mother, I recently discovered the Sunflower program at YVR (Vancouver International Airport).

Traveling through airports can be very confusing and overwhelming for my mom.

The Sunflower lanyard allows airport staff and passengers to recognize a person with a hidden disability, and change their mindset from impatience to compassion.

This program is growing beyond travel to businesses around the world.

LOUGHEED LANDMARK UPDATE

In consultation with the City last week, 13 out of 15 requirements received a yes.

They didn't like the live-work units, but Olga discovered a new feature called adaptable units that provide an additional 0.8 FSR.

We are also challenging why the City does not count the daycare space and after school learning centers towards the FSR calculation. The response we received was that no one has ever asked this question before.

We are also on our third Planner. There is a shortage of urban and land-use Planners if anyone is looking for a lucrative job.

HAVE A SMASH UP BIRTHDAY

Happy birthday to all the "July" babies.

Here's a fun e-card to brighten your day even more.

Remember that your friends get to have "July" all year long.

And thank you for all the birthday greetings!

YOU HAVE HIDDEN POTENTIAL

Adam Grant is a organizational psychologist who has been studying how anyone can achieve greatness through character, motivation, and learning—not just talent.

In his book Hidden Potential, you will read about the power of resilience, humility, and purpose in unlocking success; how innate genius is a myth, and how underdogs thrive in adversity (that's me).

I love quizzes for the curiosity of it and he offers 4 quizzes to assess (1) which skill could unlock your hidden potential, (2) how often do you think again, (3) think you know what it takes to be original, (4) are you a giver, taker, or matcher?

YOU ARE ALL MINDSETS

Remember that when science tries to categorize people, it is to sort out data to find patterns.

People are way too complex to be put into a box because we are all of the categories at different times.

For example, in his post on The Four Change Mindsets by Jay Kiew, Board Director of the Project Management Institute West Coast Chapter, he offers that people have a default mindset.

After reviewing the 4 quadrants, I am all four mindsets - depending on the situation.

These mindsets serve a purpose and are useful for self-preservation, and it does take mindfulness to be self-aware when to shift and adopt a new approach.
