FINANCIAL HEALTH CHECK UP

Just like an annual physical with your doctor, it's important to conduct an annual check up on your financial health.

It's a great time to review your budget and spending habits just in time for tax season in three months.

The first step is identifying your financial goals, preferably in writing.

Although there are a lot of resources available online for the DIY Do-It-Yourselfer, some people need a coach or an accountable partner to prompt them into action. You don't have to do this alone.

Chunk down your big goals into small actionable steps.

Remember that one completed task is more than zero; and the power of one is massive when compounded daily over time.

It just takes that one step to get started.

DOCTOR CHECK UP

Did you know you can check your physician credentials online?

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC is the regulating body for medical professionals.

All healthcare practitioners must be licensed, regulated, and accountable.

You can also register complaints, see the disciplinary actions list, and review the list of unlicensed practitioners.

It is only prudent practice to third-party verify accreditations, just like you would do in any real estate transaction.

NANNYSERVICES.CA

I was looking for caregiver options when I found NannyServices.ca.

My mother may be elderly, but she is able-bodied and independent.

Although this website alludes to caregiver services, there are candidates that offer house cleaning and pet sitting in addition to all levels of health care needs from companionship to palliative care.

HAPPY MICROBIOME

Way back in the old days before refrigeration, people maintained their health by eating fermented foods.

Our diet today focus on fast foods that are less than ideal for a healthy microbiome.

The top 11 fermented foods according to Healthline are: high fat yogurt, sauerkraut, kimchi, kombucha, natto, miso, tempeh, kefir, pickles, aged cheeses and sourdough bread.

My newest addition is homemade beet kvass.

I've tried the commercially made kombucha and much prefer my own; consider making your own homemade fermented foods.

It's simple and customizable to your taste preference.

AI ON HEALTHY LONGEVITY

ChatGPT was asked how to live to 140 years and the answer was simple, logical, and totally surprising.

This is the headline that caught my attention.

The #1 answer is - not diet, not exercise, not genetics - but a stress-free lifestyle.

Chronic stress produces cortisol that in turns destroys everything in your body.

We all know the #2 answer - social connection.

It's the quality of your friendships, not the quantity that matters.

Just focus on the top 2 reasons for health and longevity.
