Bodhran? Dobro?
No, that's not some gobbledygook. Those are two of my son's favourite instruments at the moment. (I think most of you know we love music in our family...)
He's currently fascinated with:
Jerry Douglas (a world-class musician who's played with Allison Krause, Mumford and Sons, and many many others) as well as
The Chieftains - pretty much *the* defining group of players of traditional Irish music - pictured here is Kevin Conneff playing the bodhran - the traditional Irish drum. Kevin uses a stick called a "tipper" to strike the head and sides of the drum-
Shea uses a pen. Soon we'll have to find him the real deal!
